Spay and Neuter Programs
Pet overpopulation is an issue in south Georgia that requires the work of responsible pet owners and members of our community to prevent accidental litters and end euthanasia in the county shelters. The HSVLC has several low cost options to get your pets spayed/neutered. Please read on to see which program will work best for you and your pet!
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) of feral cats
This program is designed for community/feral/outdoor cats to be spayed/neutered and given a rabies shot. Our TNR clinic is run every other weekend with a capacity of about 60 cats. Because of this, we do have a waiting list, be we assure you we are working through it as quickly as we can and we ask for your patience. Please click here to learn more about the program and fill out the form to be added to our waiting list. Our TNR coordinator will contact you as soon as she’s able. Please be patient.
- Feral cats can be fixed, given an ear tip and rabies shot, and returned for $35
- Owned cats can be fixed, rabies shot but no ear tip, and returned for $45

Citizen’s Assist Spay/Neuter
This program offers free or lower cost spay/neuter surgeries for residents of Lowndes County that receive government assistance. Due to very low funds, this program is currently unavailable. We have a waitlist and Lowndes County residents who qualify are welcome to come to our building to be added to it. If funds are available, we will contact people off of our waitlist to offer a surgery date. Read more about this program and qualifications here.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter Voucher Program
This program allows members of our community (residents of ANY county) to purchase a voucher from the HSVLC for $5.50 online. Due to no local vets participating in this program, it is currently on hold. Once you receive the voucher in your email, you can contact your local participating vet to schedule the surgery. The vets participating in this program have a waitlist several months out, and we do not have any control over how soon your pet will be spayed/neutered.
