Moody Pet Guardian Angel Program

Moody Pet Guardian Angel Program is a program sponsored by the Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County and supporting volunteers assigned to Moody Air Force Base. We are here as a service to our military families who are deployed and in need of loving, but temporary, homes for their beloved pets. We promote and coordinate the process of providing a foster home while, at the same time, providing peace of mind to the family while they’re away. This is not a re-homing for the pets but rather a fostering program to help our service men and women at Moody Air Force base.

Many times, military members are met with the difficult decision of what to do with their pets when they are deployed. In the past, if they had no friends or family who were able to help, they were forced to surrender the pet to the county shelter. It is our mission at the HSVLC to decrease the amount of animals entering the county shelter because the less that enter, the less that can be euthanized. The Moody Pet Guardian Angels Program provides a solution for this problem. Men and women who serve our country have a safe place for their pets to go until they can return.

We always need families willing to open their homes for this program. Foster placements can be a few months to a little over a year. The owner of the pet is required to provide all supplies, food, vetting costs, etc. and the foster family will not be financially responsible for the pet or pets. You can be a part of this wonderful program by opening your home and providing love to the animals of those who are protecting our freedom. If you would like to help foster or get involved, please contact Denise at moody@humanesocietyofvaldosta.org for additional information.

The Humane Society of Valdosta in Lowndes County serves as the parent organization for programs that advocate and take action to benefit those who cannot speak for themselves. Our ultimate goal is to merit a “No Kill” status for our community and stay the course in providing homes to homeless pets.
