Ivy’s Legacy Lives On
One year ago, we said goodbye to a dog who forever changed our hearts.
Ivy was found abandoned behind a dumpster, locked inside a kennel and left to die. She was heartbreakingly emaciated, weak, and had suffered unimaginable neglect. When she arrived at the Humane Society of Lowndes County, she was finally surrounded by compassion, safety, and love.
Our veterinary team quickly discovered that Ivy was battling cancer. Despite every effort to give her comfort and care, the greatest act of kindness we could offer was a peaceful goodbye.
Although Ivy’s time with us was far too short, her story became a powerful reminder of why our mission matters. Every day, animals arrive at our shelter after experiencing abuse, abandonment, starvation, and severe medical neglect. They deserve a chance to heal, and Ivy’s memory inspires us to keep fighting for every one of them.
Introducing The Ivy Fund
The Ivy Fund was established in Ivy’s memory to provide immediate, lifesaving care for dogs and cats rescued from the worst situations imaginable.
Many of the animals who come through our doors require far more than routine shelter care. They need emergency medical treatment, intensive nutritional support, specialized medications, and weeks—or even months—of rehabilitation before they are healthy enough to begin a new life.
The Ivy Fund ensures that financial limitations never stand in the way of providing these animals with the compassionate care they deserve.
