This week’s spotlight companion animal is Birdie! Birdie is a one-year-old calico cat. She is gentle, kind, and is in dire need of your support.
When we received Birdie, she was short of breath and panting. The Baytree Animal Hospital conducted an x-ray and found that she had a diaphragmatic hernia. According to the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, a diaphragmatic hernia is a whole in the diaphragm that allows the abdominal organs/intestines to enter the chest.
Birdie has undergone surgery to repair the hernia at the Capital Veterinary Specialists in Tallahassee, Florida. She had an exceptional recovery and is now a healthy cat. However, the total costs of her surgery is $1,800. Any donation or help to cover the cost of her care is greatly appreciated. Please go to our Donation page to help us reach our goal.
