Become a Volunteer

New volunteers must be available during our business hours (M-F 9am-2pm). Orientations and volunteer shifts will be scheduled to limit the number of people in our building at a time. We can only house cats and kittens in our building. If you are interested in working with dogs, consider signing up to be a dog foster!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! Our volunteers are the backbone of the HSVL. Without the help of our volunteers we would not be able to run our rescue!

Some responsibilities will include cleaning cat rooms (scooping litter boxes, sweeping, sanitizing), sanitizing playpens, condos, and crates, dishes, laundry, cleaning our transport trailer, and socializing with animals.

Steps to becoming a volunteer:

  • Fill out our brief Volunteer Application.
  • Attend a New Volunteer Information Session.
  • Our building is currently open by appointment ONLY. Once you register as a volunteer, we will be in touch with you to schedule your orientation session.

Please email us at volunteer@humanesocietyofvaldosta.org and we will work with your schedule.

For court ordered community service hours, please check here for more information.
