HEALING PAWS PET THERAPY PROGRAM It
is a proven fact that pets are very therapeutic, especially for the elderly, disabled, sick or those recuperating or going
through treatment for an illness or other medical conditions. Just stroking a pet has been known to lower blood pressure.
For this reason, the Humane Society started its Healing Paws Pet Therapy Program. Started in 2005,
the pet therapy program has provided a positive therapeutic influence in nursing homes, hospitals, children's group homes
and retirement homes. Being able to love and interact with a dog has brightened the lives of many people who are
confined to nursing homes or recuperating in the hospital. All pet therapy dogs are certified through Therapy
Dogs, Inc. (TDI), based in Wyoming. A local instructor/evaluator certifies dogs using guidelines established by
TDI. For more information about this rewarding program and how to get your dog certified as a TDI Therapy
Dog, please call Angie Kufrovich at 229-794-4156.
