VALDOSTA/LOWNDES COUNTY?
Mission
Statement: The mission of the Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County(HSVSLC) is to promote responsible pet ownership
by teaching compassion, respect and caring treatment for all animals. The HSVLC advocates the elimination of animal
abuse, pet overpopulation and homelessness among companion animals by promoting spaying and neutering of all pets, promoting
adoptions, and by providing education and outreach to the community at large.
The Humane
Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County is a local non-profit animal welfare organization started in 1989 to be a voice for animals
in our community. Our motto, "We speak for those who can not speak for themselves," expresses our commitment
to improve the lives of animals through rescue, education, and advocacy.
The HSVLC is
not the animal shelter. The Lowndes County Animal Shelter is a county run shelter licensed by the Georgia Department
of Agriculture and required to take in all stray animals and owner surrendered pets. The HSVLC is a non-profit organization
that only rescues animals based on available foster homes and funding. The HSVLC receives no funding from local, state,
or federal government, or the Humane Society of the United States. The HSVLC relies strictly on your donations, membership
fees, fundraisers and occasional grants.
