The Board met on June 14, 2011, and much of the discussion was regarding the Lowndes County Animal Shelter and the findings of the Georgia Department of Agriculture.  We have written several articles for the Valdosta Daily Times in regards to our position vs. what certain county officials are claiming as our position and role in the Department of Agriculture’s findings.  We hope our letter regarding the providing of cameras to Animal Control Officers will be published soon.  We are anxiously waiting to see how Lowndes County intends to respond to the Department of Agriculture’s findings and their suggestions. A collaborative fundraising event with Belk was held in April, donations raised over $150.00. Langdale Honda donated $10 for every car they sold in May.

We are in the process of obtaining two billboards in order to increase public awareness on spay/neuter.  Please submit any ideas to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Board of Directors met on July 12, 2011.  Discussion was held on how to improve our website and better methods of getting information out to the public via our website.  A member has volunteered to restart and manage our facebook account in an attempt to reach more of the public.  Pictures of all the ACT animals will be posted to the site for easier viewing. Bark in the Park will be held on September 17th from 11 AM -2 PM at Drexel Park. Proceeds will go to the ACT program. The Valdosta/Lowndes County Humane Society (HSVLC) received a collective donation from Ms. Rary’s first segment class at Westside Middle School in Winder, GA. The children have been working hard to raise monies, and supplies for the animals in our community.  HSVLC also received a generous donation from the Best Buy TagTeam Awards program after one of their employees assisted HSVLC through community partnering activities. HSVLC is working to advertise on two billboards in the community promoting the health and welfare of the animals in our community. Moody AFB has several volunteer programs that are willing to assist HSVLC during events.  HSVLC  will be teaming up with Books A Million monthly to raise funds for our Humane Society. 10% of all sales during the events will be donated to us (for more information please see “Events” for dates and times). KidsFest at Belk will be held again in Aug 13th from 12-3 PM; HSVLC will be in the mall with the Lowndes County Animal Shelter.
