Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT)
PDF Print E-mail

The mission of the Animal Cruelty Task Force is to speak for the animal victims of abuse, cruelty, and neglect through education, community outreach, and advocacy, which includes improving the lives of animals in our community by making pet owners aware of their responsibility to properly care for their pets and increasing awareness of animal cruelty/neglect laws in Georgia and to strengthen these laws at the state and local level.

Although ACT has no authority to enforce animal cruelty laws, they will follow up on calls from the public in regards to suspected animal cruelty and neglect and make reports to the proper agencies, such as animal control and law enforcement. The task force works as a "watch dog," so to speak, to provide assistance to proper agencies in an effort to ensure that animal cruelty laws are being enforced properly.

ACT also provides limited medical assistance to those who rescue animals that are the victims and cruelty and neglect. Because of the support of ACT, many people who have rescued animals have been able to keep their rescued pet and provide it with a wonderful, loving home.
